Pizza Monday

Today is one of my favorite days of the week. Most people don't enjoy Mondays as they are the return of the work week. For me, Monday means pizza and hanging out with my best gal pal.
For a few months now we have been cooking for each other every Monday. We take turns. One week I prepare a month, the next week she prepares something. We've made many a delicious entrees. About a month or so ago I decided to make a pizza recipe I found in Vegetarian Times. It was - Amazing! Christen was so excited that she couldn't wait to make other pizza recipes and thus, Pizza Monday was born. Pizza is super fun (and easy) to make and the result is always delicious. I think my favorite part of pizza making is that you really can't mess it up. Pretty much anything goes. Now when we start making our own dough, that may change. For now, we're just having fun throwing what ever we please on the dough with different sauces.
Here's the first pizza we made. Simple sauce, zuchhini, red pepper, goat cheese. Delish!

This was last week's pizza. Roasted veggies, goat cheese, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano.
I made this for a party a few weeks ago. Always a hit!

"He's on vacation".

Today I said "Bon Voyage" to a dear friend. His name is Office Cactus, close friend of Office Plant. You remember Office Plant, right? He's the half dead plant on my window sill in my office. Well a few feet away from him sits Office Cactus. Office Cactus, much like Office Plant, has seen better days. I'm not exactly the most nurturing person when it comes to plants. It's extremely easy to just let them sit there and forget about them. And I would also like to add that I didn't bring them into this office, they were here when I got here! So, Office Cactus could use a little TLC because apparently I'm less nurturing than a desert. One of the ladies in my office had a suggestion for me: Let the plant get really dry (done!), then sit it in a paper bag under your desk and forget about it for about 2 months. Say whaaaaat? Now that I can do! I mean, I've been forgetting about that thing for months already! I can certainly put it in a bag and forget about it. Once he's done stewing about in the bag, he'll look pretty decrepit. Then you give him a show of life and he's back, better than before! But I didn't feel right just abandoning him completely. At least when he's on the window sill I look at him from time to time. So I decided that I wasn't going to just stuff him in a bag and throw him under the desk. Instead, I sent him on vacation.
Here is his "before". Not lookin' too good.

Not a bloom in sight.

Here he is in his nice little "vacation bungalow". AKA a paper bag. That's a paper fan in one hand and a tropical drink in the other.

He will remain under my desk until sometime after the 4th of July. Then he will get his independence back. Not that he's in trouble, it's just a mere coincidence.

I will miss him but I'm sure he will have a good time. It's gonna be better than sitting on that window sill looking sad. So Bon Voyage Office Cactus! See you soon!

I love lamp.

On Monday, I decided to clean my office. I've been working here since November and I know I've never touched this desk with anything resembling a cleaning product. I have a feeling my predecessor never did either. So I decided to give my office some much needed TLC. As I was getting my workout for the day (dusting) I realized... I have way too many lamps in my office.
Two lamps, side by side.
This lamp lets people know that I am in my office. If the green light is on, I am in.

This little guy sits next to me. He really only comes on during rainy days or when the sun decides to go to bed at 5pm. AKA Winter time.
This is him all lit up. He's quite a beauty.

I would like to add that these are just my lamps. I also have ceiling lights and a built-in desk light in my office. But I never use them. I prefer the natural light that comes in from my two huge windows and all the light from my lovely lamps. The windows allow me to grow things like this plant that I'm pretty sure is half dead.
See? Only half dead.

Also today, I took my little stack of colored paper that I have because I'm an avid list-maker/note-writer and dismantled it. It came to me order. All of the colors were grouped together.
But I just can't leave well enough alone.

Life is sweet and delicious

This past week I have been dog sitting for my friend Shannon and watching her absolutely adorable dog Wally. He is not only the cutest, but he's also the sweetest. Don't believe me? See for yourself!

Isn't he just to die for?

While staying in the city, I decided to take advantage of some of the great things it has to offer. Recently, my best friend Christen has been on a Yelp.com kick. She yelps everything! It's great because we get to try new places and we have a pretty decent feeling about them going in and we aren't going on a completely blind date, if you will, with each new restaurant. Last week we went to Annabel Lee Tavern. I've been wanting to go there for sometime because it's a Poe themed restaurant and who doesn't love Poe??
The atmosphere of this place was really cool. The railing for the staircase was a tree! I really enjoyed the ambiance. Since it was such an absolutely gorgeous night, we decided to dine outside. We saw a lot of furry four-legged friends walk by which I enjoyed. Service was ok. Our waiter was very curt and not the most attentive. However, our food came quickly and it was presented beautifully.

This was my dish. Swordfish, capers, rice, DELICIOUS!

This was Christen's dish, the Seafood Edgar. So amazing.

I would definitely recommend this place. It was truly derishous. We also ordered sweet potato fries as an appetizer. They were good, but not great. I wanted some ketchup for them but our waiter never came around for me to ask him for any.

So that was last week. This week, we went to an O's game because we love dem O's. Again, it was a beautiful night!
Oriole Park at Camden Yards

I love going to games. Camden Yards is such an awesome ballpark. One of my favorite things to do at the game is eat! We bought a bag of peanuts before going in because the prices inside the ballpark are pretty much highway robbery. We bought pizza inside the ballpark and it was amazing. Amazingly bland! What the heck, Birdland?? Anyway, enough about that. I'm over it. Christen and I kept seeing "faces" or rather, "heads" in our peanuts. One in particular looked like Alien from the hit movie "Alien".
This is not that particular peanut, but you can see the resemblance right? Right??
This is Christen's plate of discarded peanut shells. She is a kind and tidy woman.

This is my "plate" of discarded peanut shells. Tisk Tisk.

Preow World

So I created this blog when I decided to stop eating meat and I wanted to chronicle my journey. That lasted all of 3 posts. And by "that", I mean the chronicling. It's been a year and I have stuck with my plan to avoid meat. Huzzah! I originally wanted to try being vegetarian for a month just to see what it would be like. Since deciding to make the cut, I haven't looked back. Sure, I've had the occasional chicken wing as my brother will tell you whenever he gets the chance (he even has video). Overall, I've stuck with it. I do eat seafood so I don't really call myself a vegetarian, but red meat, pork, poultry, and all that jazz are not things I deal with. Anyway, my life is more than just sitting around eating vegetables. My best friend Christen and I have become bake-a-holics. We love to bake and we're actually quite good at it. I know baking is all the rage right now but what we make is truly quality, which is not all the rage right now. It's amazing that some people can make utter crap and pass it off as delicious and people will just eat it up. It's sad really. I know this blog needs pictures because really that's what makes a blog. I'm no fool, I know people only read blogs for the pictures. Not that anyone will read this, but for my own enjoyment, I think I will get some pictures.
